  • 1. Introductory Quiz: Introduce the mini-unit with the included 9 question GOOGLE Slides, PowerPoint-style quiz regarding Francis Scott Key and the Star Spangled Banner. The quiz is a fun way to introduce and learn about the United States National Anthem. In addition to the 9 questions and revealing answers, this PowerPoint includes historical photos, audio links, and video links to add to your lesson. The questions themselves are presented as whole group and may take approximately 10-20 minutes depending upon discussion. I like to make it a competition and give out candy prizes for the winners!   • 2. Reading Comprehension: Students will read a historical article summary regarding Francis Scott Key, the War of 1812, and the story of how the National Anthem came to be. Included is a double-sided worksheet with 11 comprehension questions.
