When I was first teaching one of my American history classes, I noticed that many of the important historical events were linked with various presidencies. As students tried to remember the storyline and chronology of United States History, it became evident that knowing the Presidents’ names and their order was extremely helpful in understanding the timeline of American History.
Knowing the presidents is one thing, but how to get students to remember a list of names is another. Every great marketing firm knows that information set to catchy music is not only memorable but transformative as well. So, I went to work trying to figure out an appropriate tune that would fit with a list of names. Soon enough, the list of presidents along with the song America the Beautiful was going to be the next classic for students around the nation!
